Nepal beat Oman by six wickets at Unity, Kuwait to register the second in the ACC Trophy Elite 2010 on Friday. Oman scored 169/9 in 50 overs after electing to bat first. Nepal needed 38.3 overs to overcome the score and lost four wickets.

Nepal outplays Hong Kong

Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 118 runs in the opening match of the ACC Trophy 2010 Elite at the Unity Ground, Kuwait on Wednesday. Winning the toss, Nepal decided to bat first and scored 236/7 in 50 overs. Defending champions Hong Kong could only manage 118 in 33.3 overs.

Nepal to take Hong Kong in opener

Upbeat with the victory in the World Cricket League Division 5, Nepal begin the ACC Trophy Elite 2010 cricket tournament playing defending champions Hong Kong at Unity, Kuwait on Wednesday. Another factor to boost Nepal’s morale for the opening match is that Nepal had beaten Hong Kong in last two meetings. In 2008, before winning the title, Hong Kong lost to Nepal in the league match – a repetition of the result two years earlier.

Singapore lifts ACC U-16 Elite Cup

Nepal lost the first-ever final at the home turf as Singapore lifted the ACC U-16 Elite Cup on Tuesday. Singapore scored 146/6 in 40 overs and bowled out Nepal for 78 runs in 22 overs for a 68-run win.

Squad named for ACC Trophy

UPDATED ON MARCH 25: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the national team for the ACC Trophy Elite Cup cricket tournament scheduled for March 29 to April 9 in Kuwait. The selection committee headed by Arun Kumar Satyal named Paras Khadka the skipper.

Nepal, Singapore march into U-16 final

Nepal entered the final of the ACC U-16 Elite Cup defeating Malaysia by 32 runs at the TU Ground. For a change, Dipendra Chand was named man of the match for scoring 43 to help Nepal reach 162 in 39.5 overs after electing to bat first. Bibek Chaudhary and Rajiv Shah each grabbed three wickets to bowl out Malaysia for 130 in 38.1 overs. Nepal will now meet Singapore in March 16’s final at the TU Ground. Singapore beat Hong Kong by 133 runs at the IOE Ground to march into final.

Nepal to meet Malaysia; HK, Singapore proceed

Nepal will meet Malaysia in the semifinal of the ACC U-16 Elite Cup as Malaysia finished runners-up of Group A defeating Thailand by 175 runs at the IOE Ground. Singapore qualified as the Group A winners defeating Saudi Arabia by 5 wickets at BSAM Ground while Hong Kong made into the last four with a 94-run win over Kuwait at the TU Ground.

Nepal enters semi as Singapore, Malaysia win

For 15-year-old Nischal Pandey, the ACC U-16 Elite Cup is already a big success. His third man of the match award winning performance helped helped Nepal enter the semifinals with a 85-run victory over Bahrain at the BSAM Ground. The Chitwan boy scored 74 helping his team reach 206/9 in 40 overs after choosing to bat first and took five wickets with his left-arm spin to restrict Bahrain for 121/9. In Group A matches of the day, Singapore outplayed Thailand for a 175-run victory at TU Ground to put a leg in the semifinals. Malaysia beats Saudi Arabia by six wickets as leaving all three teams having chances of proceeding forward.

Nischal seals Nepal’s second victory

A brilliant all-round performance by Nischal Pandey earned Nepal a second victory in the ACC U-16 Elite Cup. Nischal collected his second man of the match award for scoring 58 runs and taking five wickets as Nepal beat Kuwait by 101 runs at the TU Ground. Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong also earned victory on the second day of the event.

Nepal all set for ACC U-16 Elite Cup

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is all set to host the inaugural Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-16 Elite Cup beginning on March 8. “ACC has given us the complete responsibility of hosting the event,” CAN president Binaya Raj Pandey said in a press conference. “This is a matter of pride for us.” Eight nations – Nepal, Kuwait, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Saudi Arabia are participating in the event.

Nepal draws HK in ACC Trophy Elite

Nepal will meet defending champions Hong Kong in the ACC Trophy Elite Cup scheduled to begin on March 31 in Kuwait. According to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Nepal plays Hong Kong in the Group A league match on March 31 at Unity Ground. Singapore, Kuwait and Oman are other teams in the group.

Birgunj, Bhairahawa continue winning

Region No 2 Birgunj and Region No 4 Bhairahawa continued their winning streak with victories on the second day of the Boost U-16 National League Cricket Tournament. Birgunj defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 35 runs at TU Cricket Ground and Bhairahawa beat Region No 1 Biratnagar by 122 runs at the IOE Ground. It was second defeats in as many matches for both losing teams.

CAN announces U-16 National fixture

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announces the fixture for the inaugural Boost U-16 National League Cricket Tournament. The six regional teams’ league will be played in the Kathmandu Valley from January 4 to 13. The event is preparatory for the ACC U-16 Elite Cup to be held in March in Kathmandu.

Nepal clinches fifth position in ACC T20

Nepal clinched fifth position in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup after beating Singapore by 9 wickets in the fifth-place playoff at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Electing to bat first, Singapore was bowled out for 89 runs in 19.4 overs with Binod Das and Sanjam Regmi sharing six wickets. Dipendra Chaudhary matched the highest T20 individual score and Naresh Budair came in flying colors in his first-innings as Nepal won in 14.2 overs.

Batting comes good against lowly Bahrain

Nepal earned third win in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup defeating lowly Bahrain by 7 wickets at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village to finish third in Group B and the rights to play 5th-place playoff against Singapore tomorrow. Invited to bat first, Bahrain scored 157/8 in 20 overs after early hiccups. Nepal needed 18 overs to complete the victory and lost three wickets on the way.

Spinners bowl Nepal to win over Qatar

Spinners shared eight wickets to bowl out Qatar for 96 runs in 20 overs as Nepal registered a six-wicket consolation win in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup on Thursday. With Thursday’s results, Afghanistan and UAE from Group A and Oman from Group B have confirmed their berth to the semifinals. Kuwait is certain to qualify. Only a couple of super-miraculous results could put Nepal or Malaysia ahead of Kuwait in the net run-rate. Kuwait’s net run rate after four matches is +2.95 while Nepal is at -0.20 and Malaysia at -0.21.

Oman beats Nepal by 12 runs

Nepal’s batting flattered once again as Oman registered a 12-run victory in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Dipendra Chaudhary took three wickets to restrict Oman to lowly 112/9 in 20 overs but Hemin Desai’s hat-trick wrecked Nepal’s top-order to bowl out Nepal for 100 in 19.1 overs. It was Oman’s third victory and Nepal’s second loss in three matches.

Unlikely heroes earn Nepal victory

It was his first match, but Baitadi’s Binod Bhandari played an innings to cherish lifelong as Nepal rode on performances of unlikely heroes to earn a nail-biting victory against Kuwait at Shk. Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Dipendra Chaudhary took four wickets as Kuwait squandered a good start to get out on 123 in 19.1 overs. Nepali batting collapsed once again before debutant Binod Bhandari hit a six off the last ball to finish at 123/7 in 20 overs. Nepal won 3-2 in bowl out.

Malaysia topples Nepal’s low total

Owing to the worst batting performance, Nepal lost its first match of the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup to Malaysia by six wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Nepal made 112/7 in 20 overs – its lowest T20 total – and Malaysia completed the victory in 17.2 overs losing just four wickets. It was Nepal’s first ever defeat at any level to Malaysia.

Paras Khadka named national captain

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) named Paras Khadka as the national captain for the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup. All-rounder Paras, 23, will replace Binod Das to become eighth cricketer ever to lead the national team. “We decided to change the leadership since it’s a new format of the game,” chief selector Arun Aryal said. “Since Nepal’s performance is not very good, we hope that new thoughts of new captain may change things.”

CAN names T20 preliminary squad

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Wednesday named preliminary squad for the upcoming ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup. The 18-member squad will train in a closed camp before the selection committee headed by Arun Kumar Aryal picked the final 14.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Selection Committee will announce 18- member team for Asian Cricket Council (ACC) T-20 cricket tournament on October 21 but without naming the captain. The committee will later announce the names of the 14 players along with the captain.

Passport holders only for Asian Games

Cricket will make its debut at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China in November next year, and the eligibility rules that states that only passport holders can play for a nation leave some of the regions cricket teams in somewhat of a selection quandary.
