Thapa Passes Away

A long-time servant of Nepali Cricket, Udaya Shamsher Thapa passed away this morning. Thapa was long-time executive member of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and was also holding the responsibility of spokesperson.

Thapa, 70, was operated for ulcer three months ago and was hospitalized as the operation took his toll. He was at the TU Teaching Hospital since last three months. Thapa served cricket in one or other way for the last four decades. A former local level umpires, considered one of the best by his contemporary, he was included in CAN in 1990 AD.

CAN vice-president Tarini Bikram Shah expressed condolence while attending the last rituals of Thapa. Shah also honored his contribution to CAN by offering a CAN flag to his body. CAN members, coaches, selectors and national players today remembered Thapa in a condolence meet at CAN office this evening.

Thapa is survived by his wife and three daughters.
