ACC Women’s Cricket Tournament runners-up Nepali women team returned on Thursday to heroes’ welcome at Kathmandu.
When the team arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport in the morning, there were cricket officials and media to welcome them. Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) president Binaya Raj Pandey along with three vice-presidents Upendra Bhattarai, Basant Lal Shrestha and Ramesh Silwal, treasurer Shashi Dutta Pandey welcomed the team with garlands.
“We are very, very happy as we became runners-up in our first attempt,†captain Nary Thapa, who was also adjudged best bowler of the tournament, said. “We performed better than expected.â€Â
Nary along with coach Jung Bahadur Thapa and manager LB Chhetri were busy giving interviews to media – six television channels and all dailies were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, CAN rewarded the team in a feliciation program and each of the cricketers recieved a cash boost of Rs. 10,000 for their performance.
