Mehboob, Keshari win PoY awards

Mehboob Alam and Keshari Chaudhary bagged awards at the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) Pulsar Player of the Year award ceremony in Kathmandu.

Mehboob picked the NSJF Pulsar Special Award while Keshari won the NSJF Pulsar Youth Player of the Year award.

Those who were nominated for the awards but missed include Roy Dias and Jamil Ansari in Coach of the Year award, Rekha Rawal in Female Player of the Year award and Maya Rawat and Prithu Baskota in the Youth Player of the Year award.

Mehboob was honored with the Special Award, given to person or institution with either great contribution or unique performance, for his 10-wicket haul against Mozambique in the World Cricket League Div 5 in Jersey.

Mehboob is the first bowler to take all 10 wickets in ICC-sanctioned one-day cricket match.

Keshari

Keshari won the award for her feat in cricket and athletics. She took 10 wickets during Nepal’s victory in ACC U-19 Women’s Championship and helped Nepalgunj win the Wai Wai National Championship.

During Fifth National Games, he won five events – high jump, long jump, triple jump, 4x100m and 4x400m. She also made national record in triple jump crossing 11.30m.

Both the winner received Rs. 15,000 cash, gift voucher of Rs. 5,000 from John Player and an export quality carpet.

Other winners of the annual awards include footballer Jumanu Rai (Male Player of the Year), swimmer Karishma Karki (Female Player of the Year), athletics coach Sushil Narsingh Rana (Coach of the Year), Manju Gurung (Popular Player of the Year) and Partha Sarathi Sen Gupta (Lifetime Achievement Award).

  2. It’s always nice to hear, such events are organized to felicitate our national players who represent our country. These players have our support and needs more support from the government. They have shown their talent amidst all odds and would like to wish them good luck for their upcoming games. Hope our politicians learn some valuable lessons from our national players. peace
