Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Selection Committee will announce 18- member team for Asian Cricket Council (ACC) T-20 cricket tournament on October 21 but without naming the captain.
The committee will later announce the names of the 14 players along with the captain.
Despite wondering on the issue of change in captaincy, the committee is still undecided on replacing Binod Das. Under Binod, Nepal failed to proceed beyond semifinals in the two international tournaments played last year. After the failure, the committee had hinted that it would replace the skipper.
In the last year’s Division -5 tournament held in Jersey, Nepal was confined to the third place which shattered Nepal’s hope to play in the 2011 World Cup. Likewise, Nepal remained fourth in the ACC Trophy held in Malaysia where UAE had shattered Nepal’s dream to play Asia Cup.
Binod is leading Nepal for last four years. He had replaced Paresh Lohani in 2005 from the World Cricket League Division-2 selection tournament. Except the victory in ACC Premier League 3-days cricket tournament in 2006, Nepali national team has not put up any remarkable show under Binod.
If selection committee replaces Binod from his role, vice-captain Parash Khadka is likely to take over the mantle. According to a CAN source, because of lack of more options the committee could not replace Binod while announcing the names of the 18-member team.
“Captain may be named later,” the source said. After the failure of national team in Malaysia, Binod had expressed his desire to quit the job but the issue was undecided as Nepal didn’t play any international tournament afterward.
It was learned that some CAN members are against replacing the captain before the World Cricket League Division 5 in February in Nepal.

In my opinion, Captaincy should be given to Binod Das as he has been leading the country for quite a while now. He didn’t have much success in the last four years, it doesn’t prove that he won’t do well this time. I have a feeling that Nepal will be in the winning side this year. Best Of Luck!!!

somebody tell me what captaincy can do with this team who donot play 20 match whole year. where u can get moral & enthusiasm from player where u have to pay from your pocket to play match. so before u think of changing captaincy think about amking certain player under contract, give them small amount of money, so that they play cricket all year rather than going to disco & bars.without fighing for post in can somebody talk to india, pakistan, bangaladesh, srinlanka to participate in their league to give these guys exposer. don’t make him bali ka bakra like raju khadka who gave his young life to country without thinking abt his furure, what did he get in return………………………………….

i think there are not new face in national team. we need that kind of player who lead the team on front. we have alot of talent but they dont get faciality how much they require. the member of can are busy to dupe the budjet for own bank balance that is seperated by ACC and ICC to cricket of nepal. the member of can are tension free about the condition of cricket of nepal . they dont know there duety . this kind of person is includes in member of CAN who dont know about cricket ,they dont know the meaning of cricket. we loss our lot of potential like kaniaka chaungai, bantu bataju, ratan raunihar, raj kumar pradhan………. if they are present in nepal and service for nepali cricket , the condition of nepali cricket will be in top of rank in world.
binod das has been representing this team since 4 years. at that time nepal was in WCL division2 but after binod took captaincy over him, the present condition of team is WCLdivision 5 . compare this figure ,how much our cricket devlop. if we won the WCL division2 we could play world cup like ireland.
in nepalil cricket there is no future of player.they cant earn money aftern playing cricket in nepal that is why they went to other country to secure there future.

well , binod is been leading the team for a quite a long time . In a way he has done good for the team and has seen lots of failure too. i feel its the time for nepal cricket to have a big and bold change . first thing rather than changing captain ,its time for nepal to change a coach . roy has done quite a good job but i think to have a coach a coach for such a long time doesnt make a sense. its the time for nepalese cricket to have a indian coach a batsman , if can cant afford indian coach i think offical have to cutoff there salary and invest in geting good coach after all they get paid for the cricket not for doing official work.i think cricket should come first than those offical who is getting paid for nothing.
As per captaincy its the time for change there too i think ideal captain for such a format of the game , basant regmi should lead the team in this format and paras should lead the team in other format. As per binod he should play in the team as a role model for the youngs guys,helping them like wht sachin tendulkar does for india.
i hope can gone take a very bold decision in near future otherwise nepalese will fall and can will be the main aspect for fall of nepalese cricket .
i too think that binod should be replaced as captain, paras should be given chance, but he too is young for captain so CAN should decide thinking well. wat about paresh lohani again.
