Owing to the worst batting performance, Nepal lost its first match of the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup to Malaysia by six wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Nepal made 112/7 in 20 overs – its lowest T20 total – and Malaysia completed the victory in 17.2 overs losing just four wickets. It was Nepal’s first ever defeat at any level to Malaysia.
After winning the toss, Nepal elected to bat first on the surface on which UAE had scored 219 in the morning match. Openers Paresh Lohani and Mehboob Alam batted slow on the flat pitch. Without fireworks in their 49-run stand, they however made the foundation that the remaining batsmen could have used.
Paresh (19 off 20 balls) was first to go while Dipendra Chaudhary (4 off 3) followed soon. Mehboob, the highest scorer of the innings with 31 off 34 balls, followed soon leaving Nepal at 63/3.
Gyanendra Malla and captain Paras Khadka added 29 runs but all Nepal needed at the time was some quick runs which did not come. Gyanendra got 22 off 23 with a six and a four while Paras got 10 off 14.
Nepal was restricted to 112/7 – nine runs less than the previous lowest total scored against Malaysia (121/9) and Afghanistan (121/7) in 2007.
Malaysia’s reply did not start well with opener Damith Warsewithrane going out in the second over bowled by Binod Das. Thusara Kodikara (20 off 12 with four boundaries) and Rakesh Madhavan (30 off 31) recovered from the early blow.
After their fall, for a wicket each to Sanjam Regmi and Paras, Mohd Faiz anchored the innings and took the team to victory with unbeaten 40 off 34.
For Nepal, the total proved little low to defend.

“We had a satisfactory start but the batsmen failed to score in the middle overs,” said coach Roy Dias. “We fell short of at least 30 runs.”
Skipper Paras was also equally disappointed with the performance. “It was a good pitch to bat but we failed to convert our starts into big scores,” said Paras.
Asked about the feeling of losing the first match against Malaysia, Paras said: “It had to happen one day and it happened here. As a captain I tried what I could but the players lack enthusiasm.” He also said the team could have done better despite the low score. “All went wrong today and I urge all the team members to go forward positively and come good in the remaining matches,” he said.
On Monday, Nepal will play Kuwait at the Sheik Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
On other matches of Sunday, UAE defeated Singapore by 62 runs, Oman defeated Bahrain by 108 runs, Saudi Arabia beat Hong Kong by a wicket and Kuwait beat Qatar by 65 runs. Much fancied debut of China ended in their 9-wicket defeat by Afghanistan after they were bowled out for 36.

come on Binay pandey u r going worst than Jaykumar nath sah
plz sack Roy dias now!!
I guess this is first time Nepal ever lost to Malaysia at any level. Where is Nepali Cricket heading? Not long ago it was the best Associate team in the region. UAE, Afghanistan, HongKong and now Malaysia has moved past Nepal. Nepalese Cricket is going backward.
DISASTER DIAS MUST BE SACKED !!! He is past his sell by date !
Very disappointed result from Nepal. Nepali batsmen are always under pressure..don’t know why? I think the bowling side is ok. But batting has been a great lacking side for Nepal…with this poor level of batting will surely exit Nepal out of the tournament……C’mon guys! Let’s win the rest 5 matches to prove me wrong and get going with the series ahead….
For the last 9-10 years, we have struggled in batting and it seems we haven’t improved in that area at all. Until that is fixed, we will never be the top associate. Bowling and fielding won’t win games if you can’t put score on the board. Our players don’t seem that motivated either. And from the captain’s interview, it seemed that the team was way too over-confident that they could beat Malaysia. and they were proven otherwise. I would be really surprised if Nepal reached the semi-finals. We don’t have what it takes to be a Twenty20 cricket nation. We need big hitters. When the world was switching over to the short version of cricket, we were trying to get better at 4-5 day cricket….so basically going in opposite direction. Our batsmen were learning to bat slow. That will definitely not help in this kind of tournament.
Anyways, I know that there are way better teams in this competition but I just hope we will get lucky this time around. Coz quite frankly, we haven’t been for the last 4 years especially in the senior side.
i stil hav some hope left with paras. come on wake up guys.
It was the poorest batting performance after china in yesterday’s overall matches.T20 is the game of big hittings but boys are playing like Roy luke dias time.
roy dias plz leave us alone….
guys plz hab patience…paras is gud captain…lets nt be pessimestic
Nearly half a dozen teams scored above 150+, however, Nepal scored only 112 (20 over) which has really brought to the forefront the necessity to do deep-searching in terms of batting is concerned for Nepal. As I said last time, the sooner our frontline batsmen realize the importance of scoring heavily and quickly, the better will it be for the team’s cause. Yesterday’s batting display against Malaysia scoring only 112 losing all ten wickets in 20 overs is something to be taken seriously as upcoming games against Quwait/Qatar/Oman would not be an easy assignment considering these teams batting prowess. No doubt, we have good bowling attack, however; in this 20-Twenty cricket format the batting rules the roost. If one looks behind our teams scoring pattern in most of the games in recent times – from practice matches played for team selection in Nepal to 4 practice matches played in India, not in a single game has our team scored anywhere around 150 or above… I am just trying to bring forth stark reality of our batting woes so that our team realizes this fact and take appropriate step in this direction at the earliest. The next assignment with Kuwait will be a test of Nepali players’ temperament and resiliency in adapting to the challenging demands. Once again, I reiterate while batting first, the team should bear in mind to score anywhere around 150 or above to win a game. We always depended on our bowling attack to win games, but now, the scenario has changed with this 20-Twenty Cricket Format. Batters, are you listening to this need of the hour?
So, pull up your socks and prove it to the world your mettle……..
Guys!
It’s nothing to blame the coach….players are the one who plays in the game…they are responsible for win or loose…..so they need some boost up and positive mentality in order to win some matches…
Cheers!
best of luck guys coz of created new record with loss the match ever in first time. the batting performance of you guys was really really ……. poor. it was like seem to 1940 which had India. can you save match after scoring 112 runs in 20 overs? Malaysia is ahead than Nepal. the development of Nepali cricket is remaining constant but others team’s saw. our batting is looking like the gully team of Malaysia.
HOW CAN WE GET SUCCESS? this is dream and remains as dream. nobody cant score quick runs.
sarad, paras, binod ,pares ,mahaboob what were you in field? nobody is called batsman after carry the bat ? do you know what is the role of batsman. there is not enough after score 10-20 runs.
A disappointing result. Guys u need to do something. 112 runs in a T20 match is just not defendable. U need to get at least 30-40 more runs. All the best for the upcoming fixtures.
What is wrong with Nepal Cricket.
Batting needs to be sharpened and just 3 match practice after a long interval is not sufficient…
Seniors player should be performing not just occupying the team.
We need some better coach to improve our skill of batting and we need regular tournament and international exposure…
If not more we can have a regular friendly match with some better clubs of India, bangladesh, srilanka, pakistan etc…
What is CAN doing in this regards?
We love our cricket !!
tyo player ko pachadi paras luniya ke gardai ho? tyo ta thulo satte baaz ho , i think nepali side le match fix gareko thiyo, ani paras luniya bhaye pachi fixing hunai cha.
I am really disappointed with with what Nepal played with team like Malaysia. I don’t want to blame those players. They are really innocent here. I want to blame Mr. binay raj pandey. He should be sacked, Why he isn’t arranging cricket tournament and freindly match with other country? If he can’t progress Nepalese cricket, he resign here. Neplese cricket is going down after Binay raj pandey has become its president. so he should be sacked first
well done malaysia….!!!!
Well…. dissapointing day for Nepal. But no blaming to Nepalese players. Everything on Nepal cricket administration. From here we know, where we stand at the moment. CAN must understand that the present homework is not working for Nepal. They may think that they have been doing their best what they can do. But compared to other nations this is not enough. Once you have started the exposure , you must come up with it. You have to organize everything properly. One should feel proud for playing under the cricketing administration. But the Nepalese players I feel have no interest in playing under the administration. Nepalese cricket administrator are ruining the cricket in Nepal. I personally feel that administrator have to quit and give up once they cannot commit on the responsibility they are given. They have no right to hold on the position, they are just destroying and ruining this lovely game of cricket in Nepal.
Please sack coch now, more than ten years too much, we need new coach from AUSTRALIA, ROY DAIS technic is not working now,
CAN must relize this change much require to have better result.
chage coach
change coach
change coach
new coach
does anybody know our current score with kuwait?
enouhg is ENOUGH….Please sack Roy Dias.
Well, I do not think blaming the coach or the players will do any good…I mean, who are we kidding?? It’s not like we were the best team and on a winning streak that we wouldn’t lose to Malaysia… We had to lose one day to it, and we did… Its T-20 guys, anything and everything can happen…but yea, our boys do need to tighten up and realize how big of a opportunity they have to play against the Asian giants provided they qualify to the finals or the third place… I know the lads are completely capable of it…and they have done it time and again…lets not decide the fate of the team over one loss… Do well, boys…Bring the cup home and make us proud..Jai Nepal !!!
