Oman beats Nepal by 12 runs

11.24.2009 · Posted in 2009, ACC Event, Match Report, Senior, Twenty20, U A E

Nepal’s batting flattered once again as Oman registered a 12-run victory in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Dipendra Chaudhary took three wickets to restrict Oman to lowly 112/9 in 20 overs but Hemin Desai’s hat-trick wrecked Nepal’s top-order to bowl out Nepal for 100 in 19.1 overs. It was Oman’s third victory and Nepal’s second loss in three matches.

Winning the toss, Nepal elected to field first. That decision paid off as Oman went down to 21/3. But Ghazanfar Iqbal (37), Sultan Ahmed (23), Adnan Ilyas (12) and Syed Amir Ali (11) helped team score three-digit.

Dipendra, who took 4 wickets a day earlier, was at his best again taking three wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs while left-arm spinner Shakti Gauchan who shared new ball with Binod Das got 2/22. Binod and Basant Regmi took a wicket each.

Nepal’s reply was disastrous as Dipendra was gone in the first over after hitting two fours off the first balls and then being bowled by Awal Khan. Then it was Hemin who grabbed a hat-trick taking wickets of Mehboob Alam, Sharad Vesawkar and Dipendra Chaudhary to make it 16/4.

Hemin first bowled Dipendra with a slower delivery and took a return catch to dismiss Mehboob with the last two deliveries of the first over. He then bowled Sharad Vesawkar with the first ball of his next over.

Gyanendra Malla (20) and Basant Regmi (26) stablize Nepal’s innings although the asking run-rate was going high but they could not continue long.

As the match was looking dead, former captain Binod hit two sixes and a four for his 10-ball 21 to give some hope but it all went in vein as Awal undid him. Awal finished with 2/16 while Syed Amir and Khalid Rasheed each took two wickets.

Nepal’s chance of qualifying to the semifinals now remains mostly on the mathematical calculations. Nepal will play Qatar after a day’s break.

“It’s pity that the senior and experienced guys failed to achieve such a target,” lamented coach Roy Dias. Dias expressed surprise over the selection of shots made by his senior boys.

“Our spinners did exceptionally well but pacemen were a total dissapointment,” added the coach. “The dismissal of the first two wickets (Dipendra and Mehboob) was turning point of the match,” said Dias.

Skipper Paras said he was shocked by the way his team batted. “It’s horrible batting. Our bowlers did their part but I have not seen such a poor batting in last five-six years,” said Paras. “We should clear our mindset before thinking of the remaining matches,” he added.

They should’ve played better and i’m sure “we” can do it!! Hope “we” make it to the next round…..

  2. nepal just won against qatar but i think its a useless win. this is just a face saving win. if nepal is to enter semi final than only hope is run rate counts incase kuwait loses against oman tomorrow n run rate comes into play. For that Nepal should have gone aggressive in batting from the first ball today , Even it doesnt matter in doing so they lose the match coz winning in the 18th over is worst than losing by that aggresive attitude. coz in both the cases nepal aint going to reach semi final. Kuwait chased 176 in 12.3 overs, by which their run rate will be too high.
its really sad to see the lack of mental strength n lack of killing spirit in players n coach. just hope that nepal thrashes bahrain with huge margin n oman too does the same against kuwait. n i know its unlikely.

    god bless nepali cricket.

Hai, i would like to suggest that Nepal,Afghanistan&China are only the pure country to participant it`s own players. But others are all from India,Pakistan&Srilanka. So, how can we win?

    Sagar,
Thank you for the comment. I tried as a player and you can ask any players in Nepali cricket team how passionate i was for our cricket. I always fought hard and tried my best. I always spoke for the welfare of cricketers but was accused of discipline action for my voice. Do you really think that CAN would like me in there?? No way buddy. I raise fingers on people too when we were kept on crappy hotels in the close camp with crappy food. Again, discipline action.
I am not talking big Sagar. I tried for six years but they did not do a single thing for us. And BTW, i do not work in a Gas Station. I have a decent work here. Why all the people think that Nepali will work in Gas station when they come to US??

  6. bardan bro keep fighting…i mean u dun hab to fight right now….take ur time, finish ur studies nd go back there….ppl had lotta expectation frm player like u,bantu, monir, munik….one day u guys sud stand in CAN….take those bloddy crap ppl out frm management…we will support you…

    Sagar,
I finished my undergrad 2 years back and now i am thinking of doing my Masters in next 2 years or so. I love to be a part on CAN but do you think that they will keep me there. If i am spending all the money, what is left for them. I might get in but will be kicked out in 1 months since no one will get along with my opinion.

  8. u cant say that without trying anything…juss give a try…there r real gud ppl in neplese cricket like amir akthar, pawan agrawal, manish pandey, naresh shrestha, ganesh badr shahi nd we all r there to support yu buddy…….i hab been following neplese cricket for more than a decade but nth much is happening…i still remember reading abt ur performance when u played school level tournament nd u were man of the match,i think it was during 2054,2055 bs……..later when u were playing for u_19 i had big hope nd u made it……u were gus at bat nd bowl both wen pakistan nd bangladesh lost wid us in new zealnad wc……..so do smt for us…

  9. Bardan Chalise says:

    Sagar,
I got your point but let me tell you something. I am here in US but Amir, Pavan Dai, Manish dai are all in Nepal. Why is CAN not letting them in?? They have done good things for Nepal cricket and they should get an opportunity to be a part CAN right?? But they will never get this opportunity since they will think about growing cricket in Nepal which will cost money. And that is what CAN do not want to do.

  12. yeah, i am really agree with BANTU AND BARDAN DA . nobody have right to raise the fingers of work of person. you are staying in nepal and you should have been doing any unlega things. if i say this thing to you, what does your expression will came? plz be careful about your speech oak. BARDAN was one of that cricketer who fight for his team at any circumstances. he was one of the very talent cricketer ever produced by nepal and still yet.
but unfortunately ,we loss him due to undone by CAN to secure the future of player.
COMEON BARDAN DA SHOW YOUR TALENT WHICH IS INSIDE YOU. WE ARE HOPPING , YOU WILL COME IN NEPAL AND ROCK THE NEPALIES CRICKET AGAIN . IF CAN ISNT YOUR SUPPORT, BUT WE WILL SUPPORT YOU ON CRICKET FIELD. COME ON NEPALI CRICKETER YOU CAN SHOW EVERYTHING

  13. Frens, I think Bardan is now mere a past of nepalese cricket. He’d never like to come n play for Nepal. I think now most of the nepalese cricket fans have almost forgotten him. So young boys, its upto u to show ur talent. I believe Nepal will not remain as a ‘Guinea Pig’ for long. I see some bright spots rising……………………..

  14. hi bardan nd bantu .sagar again……

  16. Bante,
What did you write on that Deleted post……Write again…..Ujjwal dai—-u cannot stop our voice any more……to much dominance……you know why……our player cannot speak for themselves…..I am still telling them to raise their voice…..they have to listen……

Amrit—-You are right…..i cannot play cricket anymore since i have to take care of my parents and my family….They are old and its my responsibility to take good care of them…..Do you think i will still want to play cricket buying my own bat that cost around 10,000 RS. CAN cannot even sponsor that to the players……where is the stability…..

  18. yes, amrit da, i am really support in your support. now this is our time to show something great to develop our cricketing conditional in Nepal. we have been trying alot more for few years ago. there is nothing for cricketer. we cant secure the future which need to us. there is no money …nothing. all the money which separates by ACC for CAN is only for MR.BINAYA RAJ PANDEY. players cant get there money from CAN

  19. Bardan Chalise says:

    Ujjawal Dai,

I am not using bad words at all. I am just expression what i feel and what i had been through and what Nepalese cricketer are going through.

  20. Bantu Bataju says:
