Sharad Vesawkar will not be showcasing his batting when Nepal competes in the World Cricket League Division 5 in Kathmandu in February 2010 as Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) axed him from the national team.
CAN named 18-member squad for the closed-camp training and Vesawkar is the only name missing from the national team ranked fifth in the ACC Twenty20 Elite Cup in UAE last month.
Sharad played three out of six matches in the T20 but scored only 11 runs.
Also failing to make to the squad are Ajay Rajbanshi and Chandra Sawad who were in 18-member squad for the T20. Their absence made inroads to U-15 captain Prithu Baskota, Subash Khakurel and Dhirendra Chand.
This is the first time Prithu and Subash are named in the national squad. Binod Bhandari and Naresh Budair, who had impressive debut event in T20, were continued.
Paras Khadka and Gyanendra Malla continue as the captain and vice-captain respectively while former captains Binod Das, who recently became a father, and Paresh Lohani are included in the team.
Other members of the team include Dipendra Chaudhary, Shakti Gauchan, Mehboob Alam, Basant Regmi, Mahesh Chhetri, Naresh Budair, Binod Bhandari, Sanjam Regmi, Amrit Bhattarai, Rahul BK, Subash Khakurel, Prithu Baskota, Dhirendra Chand and Anil Mandal.
The WCL Div 5 begins on February 22. A joint training camp for the WCL Div 5 and South Asian Games will begin on December 30.

In my view CAN did a great blunder excluding sharad and ajay in this very important event. If it was other event, then it was excusable but in this big event…Huge mistake.Ajay was one of the best batsman in one day senior national game and Sharad had a lot experience in international cricket from Nepal.
I am shocked with the exclusion of sarad…For the first time i am posting the comment in any media coz i believe its realy unfair…Ok after wcl5 b ready to drop gynendra or may b mehebob …..
Binod, congratulation on being a father. I wish you all the best. S.V is a very talented player and should have been included in the close camp at least. He could have brought his performance level higher to some extend.
Since the close camp is starting on Dec 30, the boys have month and half to get prepared. This is not enough. S.Vis out of form and this will happen to lots of other player if we have there kind of short close camps. They need to play through out the year to perform.
Anyways, good luck guys.
Sarad is one of the finest player ever nepal has produced…Ya i agree with bardan ,at least he should hav been included in the camp…How they can pink anil or subash instead of him…Anil too played bad when nepal was out of u19 elite cup….But i am hapy with the inclusion of prithu…Best of luck guys play well…
I reckon exclusion of Sarad Vesawkar is a tactical blunder considering that it was prompted due to his failure in recently concluded 20-Twenty Cricket Tournament in UAE. His record in the tournament – played in 3 games and scored only 11 runs does not prove that he is not fit to play in upcoming ICC WCL DIVISION-V 50 Overs game; which is altogether a different ball game. Yes, had it been 20 Twenty Cricket Tournament, keeping him away for a while would have been justified, to some extent. In 50 overs format of the game, he has proved his mettle. So, the decision to axe him is a harsh one considering the stability and enforcement he could have provided to the batting line-up. His long experience and batting for such an important tournament should not have been ignored. The problem in our country is once you are axed you do not have immediate national cricket tournaments of different formats wherein you could play, regain your form and be back in contention for the national team selection. I wish if we had this arrangement, Sarad Vesawkar would have proved his class and roared back into the squad…. Any way, Sarad Vesawkar, you do not have to lose heart. Sometimes, such lull period peps you up and reignites the passion to perform better and supremely next time around. All the players go through ups and downs in their career, so you should take it as a part and parcel of the game. Also, this temporary lacuna will give you enough time to refresh and revitalise and come back with a bang… Maybe, re-reading The Alchemist novel would do the wonders to you…
By the way, I would like to congratulate Binod Das on becoming a proud father.
Why rahul bk is not in closed camp for sag games but is in camp for wcl5?Anybody can tell me why?He is very good prospect for our cricket but icc had some complain with his bowling action…It would b better if he wil b send to dhaka too….
I am being restless about the cricketing months coming up for Nepal. The SAG and and the WCL. Read about Sarad being excluded the other day, felt bad for him. But this is a game. You deliver u get in and if not u are not in the frame. Thats how the sports goes on everywhers and so will in Nepal.
I also read the blogs about Sarad being excluded and everybody’s view that it is not fair. But well, i dont agree. Because, we are always complaining that CAN is doing nothing for the improvement and all. But CAN at least is trying to do something I feel. It is not that I am fully satisfied with what CAN is doing but when it does something to improve whether be fair or unfair ,I back them.
About Sarad, CAN cannot afford him to play every other game without performance. No question that he is a very good batsman for Nepal but presently not in form. He needs to take a time out and rebuild himself and regain his form back.
One more thing, I feel great to know that CAN carries enough option to exclude great players like Sarad even in the closed camp. Well thanks to no. of cricketers growing in Nepal. Hope CAN develops packages to secure the future of the present cricketers and wanna be cricketers.
And finally, Mr Ex-captain, Binod Das, congratulation for the baby. Best of luck for the future games.
form is temporary only and class is permanent.every nepali cricket follower knows it well that sharad is a class batsman, which is rare in nepali cricket team.it was a great mistake made by CAN in leaving him behind on cold, batsman like sharad’s class can anytime get his form back and history reveals it.
yes this is not well select of player. why sarad is out of team. there isnot any resion of out sarad from national team. why he is out. nobody have that reasion
ujjwal da dont delete our voice plz da
this creats alot of furstation da
da plz help us da dont delete our coments
I guess axing Sarad is the act of desperation from CAN. They want to show players and fans that they make decisions…. but its a blunder….. Sorry guys… you go the wrong person….. Roy Dias should have been the one to go !!!!
wow sarad is dropped. It comes as a shocker but he will be back and back with a bang…i think its gud for sarad..he thinks a lot and this time that he will get i knw he’s gonna be utilizing to become a better n stronger performer…people get selected and dropped frome teams…lots of big names in cricket when they have failed to perform have been dropped and sharad is no exception..in my opinion what Roy Dias and CAN is trying to do here by droppin sharad is ,they are tryin to send a message to all the players who are sure they are gonna be picked in the squad…its like “guys if u dnt perform u cud be next” and honestly i think its a bold but gud move…anyways congratulation Binod dai…and subash too for bein selected..perseverence pays and i wish u luck n hope u make it to final 14…
Bantu
Yeah, definitely there has been some disparity among the players. The players are picked up as per the basis of few matches… Sarad is ofcourse a good batsman… He might have been excluded for the rise of new hero of Nepal. Best Of Luck for the guy who has got chance to perform in place of sharad.. Good Luck guys …Cheers Nepal really deserves the win in WCL5…
Congratulations to Binod Bhandari, i hope u will b in place of Sharad….Best of Luck new captain Paras.
