According to coach Roy Dias, it seems he is upbeat and quite confident about the boys’ preparation for this tournament. However, some actual match practices with neighbouring countries’ club-level teams would have added that extra power and attuned the players for this very important tournament. We have some wonderful cricketers in the likes of Paras Khadka, Mehboob Alam, Dipendra Chaudhary, Sarad Vesawkar, Gyanendra Malla, Binod Das and others on whom we can bank upon for ensuring victories in this tournament. They have to fire up and display their best performance at a time, when senior-level cricket’s charm has slightly been slurred due to not so worthwhile performances in the recent past. Each player has to raise the level of their game and display competitive cricket. Besides, majority of the players are also catching up with the age it may be a good chance to make their presence felt by leaving footprints in the sands of Nepali cricket. Interestingly, I agree with captain Paras Khadka’s piece of mind that if current team fails to accomplish the mission, the young cricketers should be drafted into the team.

Seeing other teams’ composition, we cannot discount the other teams’ chances in this tournament. They are good enough and would try to outwit each other. Some of the players have experience of playing at county level matches. They must have also done good preparations back at home and would try to give their best shots. From the World Cup’s qualifying perspective, it is very important. So, we can expect a tough competition and exciting games ahead.

All in all, I wish best of luck to Paras Khadka and his company to play with full commitment and display your skills by playing high-level of cricket at this tournament. The home turfs and home crowd support should help in your endeavour.
