A very good and competitve tournament coming up. A perfect platform for Nepal to prepare for the WCL 4. Afghanistan, Hong Kong, UAE,.. these are the teams Nepal will counter up ahead in the WCL while climbing the ladder. Playing them in the lower level is nothing but very good. These games will certainly give them very good match pratice ahead the WCL. Nepal needs more these type of games.
Hope CAN will arrange some friendly matches with other countries abroad in coming months prior WCL so that the Nepalese team will have enough time to realize their bench strength.
Long Live Nepal cricket!!!!!
The squad was as expected but this time some changes in the 14 member team is anticipated. Since Dipendra has failed in the last tournament so he should be dropped and Subash Khakurel, who showed his caliber with bat in the practice matches against Figi and the formidable USA has strongly proved that he deserved a break this time. A choice between Amrit Bhatarai and Dhirendra Chand would be difficult and same would be the case between Binod Bhandari and Pradip Airee .The good knock against USA would favor Anil Mandal over Prithu Baskota other 10 players of the Div 5 tean deserve to be in the final squad.

Hope dis tym new players’ll get chance….
I dont think it is right to drop dipendra… he is very good batsman but might be not his prime form what he use to be or opening slot is not suiting him so, he needs to get another chance.
and another important thing, we are always weak in batting that’s why we can’t afford to replace batsman by bowler or allrounder…
1. Subash khakurel/ Mahesh chettri
2.Anil mandal/ binod bhandari
3.Shakti Gauchan
4.Paras khadka
5.Sarad Veswakar

10. Binod das
11. Sanjam Regmi/ Amrti bhattrai…….kuwait is good pitch for seamer…………….., Dipendra should not b in top 14…….
whatever it is ,looking at our batting quality we need extra batsman in our squad.out of fifty overs ..20 overs between binod and mehboob…sakti can bowl 10 overs..paras can bowl 10 overs ..sanjam regmi and binod did well in wcl5 so they deserve a place as well.my 11 would be.
1)mahesh chettri(WK)

7)subash khakurel
8)mehboob alam
9)basanta regmi
10)binod das
11)sanjam regmi
the main thing is that we have to give a chance to all the players…we have to beat afghanistan, uae at any cost to prove that we r no weaker than them.best of luck guys..hope this time we can prove our quality.
I reckon selection committee has committed a tactical blunder by once again brushing aside Subash Khakurel despite his good showing in recent times. As Nepal’s next and very important assignment is ICC World Cup League Division-4 Cricket Tournament in Italy, the selectors should have been prudent and given him an opportunity to play in this tournament, which would have provided him an exposure playing at a competitive level. Now, I wonder what Subash Khakurel must have been thinking…. “Despite my repeated good performances, I am still not in the national side, will I ever get chance or not ?”
By the way, I am a bit surprised despite repeated failure in ICC Word Cup League Division-5; Dipendra Chaudhary has been given another nod. Honestly speaking, I am not against his selection, but keeping him away for a while would have been a good option so as to make him to go through grind of working on his visible shortcomings and score heavily in local matches to make his come back in the team. Remember, originally Sarad Vesawkar was dropped for ICC World Cup League Division-5 Cricket Tournament subsequently his failure at ACC Twenty20 Cricket Tournament (Though his exclusion in the original team was cited his poor health reasons, I believe, the actual reason was his poor performance at the ACC Twenty20 Cricket Tournament) but re-drafted into the team after Paresh Lohani withdrew citing personal reasons. The interim period when Sarad Vesawkar did not find his name in the team really did a world of good as he practised a lot, re-energised himself and was raring to prove his worth. And at the eleventh hour, when he learnt he was in the team his happiness knew no bounds. His re-emergence with consistent performances in the ICC World Cup League Division-5 is a testimony that keeping away a quality player, who is going through a bad phase, for a while goads him and inspires him to prove his worth. Now Dipendra Chaudhary will be under tremendous pressure. Since he is given another chance, he has to justify his selection and prove wrong to his detractors. Any way, the team has been announced, Paras Khadka’s main job would be to tell each and every player to deliver goods – nothing less than 100% performance. There should not be a room for complacency and every attempt should be made to win this elusive ACC Elite Cup Cricket Tournament.
No doubt, Nepal has a lethal bowling arsenal; however, it is a batting which falters most of the times. Yes, in ICC World Cup League Division-5 Cricket Tournament, Nepal batted and bowled superbly, but this sort of performance should be repeated every now and then to remain at the top spot. At a time, when Nepal is dreaming of playing in World Cup 2015, it is mandatory that every player needs to contribute and does not take his place for granted in the team. Shakti Gauchan having been in the international circuit, he has to understand the urgency of scoring runs at a brisk rate. His scoring rate has to be upped. Gyanendra Malla will have to believe himself and play his natural game and get over his impetuosity to go overboard. Mehboob Alam, I am really disappointed that he has not been able to do justice to his immense talent in batting. In bowling, he is fine but he could have achieved milestone in batting as well. He is one of the hardest hitters of the ball in Nepali cricket. Rest others will have to continue the good work they did in recently concluded ICC World Cup League Division-5 Cricket Tournament.
To sum it up, Paras Khadka and his boys should take this tournament as a good preparation for upcoming ICC World Cup League Division-4 Cricket Tournament and put up best performance. Best of luck, boys ! I hope you will bring home this elusive cup and establish Nepal as the true champion in Asian region (Amongst non-test playing countries).
