Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 118 runs in the opening match of the ACC Trophy 2010 Elite at the Unity Ground, Kuwait on Wednesday.
Winning the toss, Nepal decided to bat first and scored 236/7 in 50 overs. Defending champions Hong Kong could only manage 118 in 33.3 overs.
Anil Mandal and Shakti Gauchan scored half-centuries for Nepal. They added 118 runs for the second wicket – the best partnership for that wicket to create the foundation.
Man of the match Anil got 72 while Shakti scored 68.
Mehboob Alam (31) and Dipendra Chaudhary (28 not out) got quick runs to accelerate the run-rate. Binod Das got 11 not out. Hong Kong´s Nadeem Ahmed grabbed three wickets.
In reply, Hong Kong were on the back foot as Mehboob Alam grabbed three and Binod Das got one. Basant Regmi later took two wickets while Paras Khadka and Shakti Gauchan each claimed a wicket.
“We just need to keep on winning,” Paras who felt that Nepal scored a little less said. “In other competitions we’ve just lost one game and found ourselves out. We just need to win all of them this time.”
Roy Lamsam, Hong Kong’s captain felt his batsmen let him down, “There was too much inexperience. On this track we should have scored a lot more. We bowled and fielded well but we really need to play better”
Nepal will next meet Oman at the same venue on April 2.

Nepelese are not brave in war they are brave in cricket as well. But Kuwait dosent five visa for Our Voice caption so why ?????????
go nepal go u can do it……………………………
Go up front go go go and again go
Khadka and company of nepal
grt guys.
Dear all Nepali friends
As i am a kuwaity national this tournament has not great status in our country the kuwait cricket board has no authority because it is being authorised by south asians mainly pakistanis and indians , therefore when they submit there requestment it is as a normale person and in our country we have alot of people who arrive for a month visa and end up staying for more then a year as a illegal imigrant to make some form of money which is hammering our own country. The sad part is until cricket is played by kuwaites and controloed by kuwaities then only will the game grow and issues such as these will not arise.
Thank you all and i am supporting nepal and afghan as well because you people are representing your own country which is a inspiration for all of us.
Thank you
Yeah! there are many Pakistani and Indian Nationals in the Kuwait Cricket Team along with UAE, Singapore and HongKong. Hope this will help the emerging nations to learn this sport in a positive way. I totally agree with your thoughts. Anyways, nice to hear that you’re supporting Nepal and High Flying Afghanistan
But you guys didn’t allow visa to our vice-captain, mr. Gyanendra Malla.. Otherwise, bring afghanstan, we want revenge
Go Nepal go Nepal you are the best………………
Afghanistan’s vice captain and Nepal’s vice captain Muhammad Nabi and Gyanendra Malla both failed to arrive Kuwait, because their visa applications have been rejected unspecifiedly.
And Bahrain’s some players didn’t reach Kuwait, due to visa problems as well.
What the hell is this?
The ACC and ICC should impose a severe ban on the Kuwait Cricket from hosting any international tournaments, if they are unauthorised and can’t host the teams properly.
I agree. This is quite a serious issue.
M. Nabi is a player of international standerd.. I wish he wud be here as we wish to beat afghanstan in their full strength.. Anyway we too are missing our vice captain..
yea! We won convincingly!! By 118 runs! Congrats! N best of luck fo remaining games!
yeah! We have beaten the one of powerful team Hongkong by 118 runs. This is the great job guys. I think everyone knows Hongkong is in 24 and the Nepal is in 29 rank in the ICC cricket ranking. Gusy this is the great chance to show they what we are. best of luck guys. keep on ………….. we are with you.
nepal is in a way now!!!!!!congrates boys.. can anyone plz tell me where we can see live score of this tournament?? anyway feeling very happy to hear some international supports for nepal…thank u guys..and definately ACC and ICC must do something for kuwait in respond to not issuing visa for nepali, afgani and baharain’s major players…
Live score on acc website..
Bravura performance by Nepal in its first encounter against defending champions Hong Kong. In today’s game, Nepal has excelled in all the 3 departments of the game – bowling, fielding and batting. Though the team was shocked at the refusal of Gyanendra Malla’s visa episode, the players showed a lot of character and resiliency, and carried on with the game resulting tremendous performance. Nepal has got a decent start and they should keep up the momentum without going into any sort of complacency. Well done, boys ! I am proud you have begun your mission in an optimistic note.
A huge win over the defending champions! Good to see improvement in batting. And i am sure if we score about 250 even Afganisthan can’t surpass it easily against our bowling attack. The way the guys batted today even when two key pillars of our batting- paras and veshwakar failed was really appreciable. But, gynendra’s visa refusal is a huge blow for us. His excellent batting and extraordinary fielding will be missed. But why has his visa been denied? What is the difference that kuwait sees between him and rest of the members of the team. If entire team gets visa, why can’t he? Hosting biggest tournament for non-test playing asian nations and denying visa to such a high profile cricketer without any specific reason is not acceptable. Why is acc turning a deaf ear to such serious issues? Gynendra was so excited about the tournament but what the hell is this. Such matters will definitely frustrate the players. Anyway, all the best for the next match. We must take revenge of T20 loss against Oman.
Come to Nepal kuwait, unlike you we will welcome your all players.. Gyandendra, don’t be sad, we’ll beat kuwait by 150 runs or 6 wickets for you if we meet them.. Our vice-captain will be with us in div-4 to take us to div-3.. Play for our motherland brave Gorkhalis, unlike your adopted contry’s counterparts.. We pray for you, love you and support you.. We are confident tha you guys won’t let us down..
Hey guys!
Do you know about the match between Afghanistan and Buthan?
Afghanistan outplayed its opposition in a phenomenal performance.
Afghanistan 471/5 in 50 overs.
(K. Sadiq 130, Noor Ali 108, A. Stanikzai 151*) beat Buthan 78 all out (H. Hassan 11/6) by 393 runs.
This is the second highest target in the international 50 overs cricket (Saudi Arabia 499/7 against Brunei is the first highest target).
But Afghanistan defeated Buthan by 393 runs and this is the biggest defeat by margin of runs in international cricket.
So guys what you think about this?
OMG! Is that true! Afg played like super-six.
My nepal< My pride………………

You can check out the summary of the match between Afghanistan and Bhutan on http://www.kuwaitcricket.com
well everyone knows that Bhutan and Brunei those teams are just at larval stages. so, to say that we scored this much runs against such a feeble team and tryna make a pride for urself is nothing but a act of fool..
Hello khusal, don’t be proudy like that. Every one knows what is afganistan ok. so try to be possitve and try to make them ( your players) score more than 250 with other team accept 3 those weaker team. If you think your team is really better and they can score more than 250 in other game so think in next game when they play with UAE and wait for result then you can find your team will be pack up around 200 and if you choose field you will get the target 250. so think that day will be your bad day. And your team will loss the game.
