Binod Das bowled a dream spell taking six wickets in three overs to keep Region No 2 Birgunj in hunt of the spot in the final of the Pepsi Men’s Twenty20 National League at IOE Ground.
With Binod’s record-breaking 6/6, Birgunj defeated Region No 6 Baitadi by 3 wickets as Region No 4 Bhairahawa continued unbeaten run with a 25-run win over Region No 5 Nepalgunj.
Binod, who struggled in earlier matches, came back strongly in the rain-reduced 15-over match.
Despite his burst, Baitadi managed to amass a good total of 106/8 in 15 overs with Pradeep Airee (29 off 37), Binod Bhandari (29 off 22) and 29 extras contributing to the total. Naresh Budayar his two sixes for 14 in 8 overs.
In reply, Dipendra Shah (33 off 30), Anil Mandal (26 off 27) and Yasin Hawari (14 off 8 balls) contributed for the victory that Birgunj achieved in 13.5 overs despite losing a few wickets here and there.
Pradeep and Binod Chhetri each grabbed two wickets.
In the other match, Rahul BK put on an all-round performance for Bhairahawa’s third victory in as many matches. Batting first, they scored 112/8 in 20 overs and bowled out Nepalgunj for 87 in 19.5 overs.
Rahul scored 18 – matched by Shakti Gauchan as Bhairahawa benefitted from 24 extras. Antim Thapa made 11 while Subash Pradhan, Faizal Khan, Durgesh Rajali and Dipesh Khatri scored 8 for the team.
Sandeep Shrestha grabbed 4/8 in his four overs.
In reply, Nepalgunj lost Shahid Riza for zero in the first over. Mahesh Chhetri (17 off 17) and Rupesh Sharma (23 off 23) added 28 in four overs but a few quick wickets put them on backfoot. Sandeep (11) and Navin Shahi (15) got a few runs but could not change the equation.
Rahul grabbed 2/8 while Krishna Karki also got two wickets.
On June 4, Region No 3 Kathmandu plays Region No 5 Nepalgunj.

Can you please explain me regarding the better teams in Nepal and what about the first class structure in Nepal? Are four day games played?
hey greyblazer, thanks for showing interest on Nepalese cricket. To tell you one fact, Cricket association of Nepal might be most corrupted cricket association of world and our country Nepal has most worse domestic cricket structure. our domestic league looks really funny and is completed in one week. I don’t know where C.A.N is using lots of aid money from ICC. C.A.N is also not paying proper amount to the players playing league. Our players are getting just NRs. 50 per match( one dollar =73 NRs), which is less than one dollar. C.A.N is just organizing 20-20 and one day as national league in a funny way. we don’t have any four days league in C.A.N routine. Hey, greyblazer we Nepalese cricket fan are requesting you one thing. Please publish one article on your blog about Corruptible Cricket association of Nepal and how they are misusing aid from ICC.I assure you, we will help you in your research. I don’t know why ICC is being so passive on such thing. Cricket is being more popular than football in Nepal and I am sure that, If we have good cricket association, we will be in level of bangladesh.
We all Nepali fan wel come you greyblazer in our cricketwebsite. What ever mehaboob said is true. Mehaboob already said about our cricket structure. I agree 100% with mehaboob. Our cricket association(CAN=cricket association of nepal) is not honest in developing cricket in our country. We all know that ICC and ACC put loads of money for the development of cricket in Nepal. But CAN never used that money in right way. They are not managing cricket in nepal. Nepal is one of the most exciting cricket nation but our cricket association is the most corrupted. They never organize our cricket in organized way. We do not have any structure. We do not have any academy run by CAN and we do not have anything to tell you about our cricket structure. What ever we achieved till today is all because of our players and their passion towards cricket. CAN is not loyal to players. They are just hungry to collect money for them self.
Funny thing is that we organize our national cricket tournament in monsoon season. Now it is a monsoon time in our country and we are organizing tournament in this time. This proves that CAN is not serious about developing cricket.
We had lots of young talented players before but now we are loosing them day by day. There is no such financial support from our government or CAN. Our players have to spend money from their pocket to play in national tournament.
Whatever ICC or ACC give money to our country is because of players performance but in return players do not get anything. They even do not have any contract or sponsors.
We do not have many turf wickets in our country. Only kathmandu have few.
Nepal’s second largest city Pokhara do not have any cricket ground. There was a plan to build cricket ground but its almost 5-6 years but there is no sign of development you know why??our corrupted CAN took all money. Players have to roam hear and there to find place to play cricket.
I can guranteed in few years time nepal will vanish from cricket history if our CAN keep corrupting. We have very talented players like binod das, parash khadka, gyanendra malla, mehaboob alam, sharadh veswakar. But after 4-5 years these players will vanish because they cannot secure their life playing cricket. So they will go for different career and after that we do not have any backup players. We depend on these players and after their retirement we will be way backward. CAN do not have intension to develop cricket. They do not have any backup plan.
Fantabulous performance by Binod Das’ 6/6 is a no mean feat, to say the least. In a Twenty20 Cricket, which is inherently designed for batsman’s domination, a bowler capturing 6 wickets is simply amazing and his achievement has to be praised. This old-horse and one of the finest all-rounders Nepali cricket has ever produced still has unsatiable desire for excellence as if he were a novice striving to prove his worth…. Despite being in cricket for so many years, he has not taken anything for granted. Though he is catching up with the age-factor, his grit, determination and commitment towards cricket is an exemplary to follow the passion and obsession with which a cricketer has to play his game at all times. Hat offs, buddy ! Honestly speaking, it will be a sad day when he hangs up his boots, but I am sure he will be involved with the game as a coach, columnist or for that matter as a cricket commentator…..
This year Bhairahawa seems to have found the magic of winning each and every game. I won’t be surprise if Bhairahawa wins this tournament. For Kathmandu, it seems the players have slightly slackened in their mission coupled with a little bit of complacency has been its undoing so far. I reckon, the boys better pull up their socks discarding off-colour performance and prove it to all the true colors of a great Champion…….
Meanwhile, it really pains me to say our buddies outpouring their frustration through this website pertaining to Nepali cricket scenario. I reckon, it is high time Cricket Association Nepal planned out some long-term cricket development plans coupled with spruced up and effective administration to prove its worth. Every now and then, we read something is said about CAN. But honestly speaking, there cannot be a smoke without a fire so it is the responsibility of CAN to ensure the smothering of smoke (if there is any and prove the allegations wrong) as its spreading far and wide may prove detrimental to the development of cricket in our country.
Thanks for the welcome. It is sad to see that just like few other associate teams, Nepal cricket is being ruined by the board. I would surely write a blog on it.
Anyway, again thanks for the welcome.
