Nepal´s experiments with new opening pair ended in a nine-run defeat against Tanzania in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 at Centro Sportivo Ca´Nova, Medicina, Italy on Tuesday.
After a long gap, Mehboob Alam was asked to open with Anil Mandal and the pair were out without scoring as Nepal were bundled out for 108 in 44.1 overs chasing 117 for victory.
For Nepal, vice-captain Gyanendra Malla topscored with 41, which five of the players did not open their account including Sharad Vesawkar, Binod Das and Amrit Bhattarai. Shakti Gauchan scored two.
Rahul Biswokarma, who earlier bowled a superb spell of 5/18, and Basant Regmi tried to push Nepal to victory but their last-wicket partnership ended in 16 runs. Rahul got bowled on 7 while Basant remained unbeaten on 7.
Paras Khadka (24) and Mahesh Chhetri (16) scored a few runs but it was not enough as Tanzania rode on splendid bowling performances of Kiseto (3/19), Rehmtullah (3/25) and Nassoro (2/18).
Earlier, Nepal elected to bowl first and restricted Tanzania for 117 in 47.3 overs with spinner Rahul Biswokarma being the pick of the bowler with 5/18.
Biswokarma, who was introduced late in the innings, missed a hattrick chance but will be on for another chance when he plays next match as he took last two Tanzanian wickets in successive balls.
Basant Regmi supported him well with 2/23 in his 10 overs while Mehboob Alam, Amrit Bhattarai and Paras Khadka each grabbed a wicket. Although Binod Das (0/9) and Shakti Gauchan (0/9) went wicket-less, they dried up runs.
For Tanzania, who had a slow but steady start, opener Khalifa scored 46 off 82 balls with three fours and two sixes while Nassoro got 18 with a six. Other contributions came from Kiongozi (12) and Abdallah (11).

Why did they change their opening pairs? That’s the reason of defeat. Changing the position of players doesn’t creat the good reasult. If there was mehaboob on no 7 I think nepal won easily against Tanzania. We r very sad with this result but guys be cool and show the right temperment in the crease. Never throw the wickets like pakistanies. Anyways show ur real batting . God bless u guys. We r beyond with you guys.
I think some prompt changes need in the playing squad
Pradeep and Manjeet should be included
and Amrit and Alam should be dropped for next matches
We dont have other options
and should not tamper with opening pair as well as other batting other

Captain might have win with good RR in his mind. Thats why he Alam on the opening spot. Anyways PARAS says on his blog there were lots of drop catches and sloppy fielding from our team. They would have been bundled under 70 runs.

So sad that Nepal loss this match. Today bating line-up was totally change. Cap. paras & dias thought that they beat tanzania like as usa. They plan match should win soon & get good net run- rate. That’s why alam came as a opener & shakti played on 6 th position.
Yesterday, Nepal got low run- rate. So, Today they changed whole plan but they failure earlier. Mahesh & anil is good opener ( they proved in acc trophy 2010). Shakti always played on 3rd & sarad is perfect on 4th but usually paras play on that position.
About dias, One national player say me about him that dias vaneko bhutte khukuri ho jasko kunai dhaar nai chaina. Dias bata sikne baaki kura kehi chaina vaneka thiye unle. auta coach 9 yr dekhi hamro teamlai coaching gari raheka chan chahe jati sukai asafalta kina namilsoh( national teamko sawalma). Dias lai Canle niskasan garna sakdaina ra dias afai pani niskidainan.
Aba neplese coach ma Kapildev lai lyaunu par6. Jasle india ka A level ka team sanga practise match ko byawasta pani milauna sak6 ra naya batting style pani.

Hey Guys, I was shocked when I saw the result, how can a strong team like Nepal lose such a prominent match to a very weak nation in a such a crucial tournament? I was surprised really!
They lost to a team which was crushed badly by USA, and yet we compare Nepal with USA as favourites.
This was a severe emotional disturbance for the Nepali fans, because the fans expect bigger from their team but the team is performing like a super minnow.
But fans do not lose your hopes, I reckon that Nepal is struggling because of astro pitches, they ain’t familiar with these pitches. As far as I have knowledge about Nepal they are a good team and I am sure they will bounce back and will qualify to the final of this tournament.
If they win all their remaining matches with big enough margins to increase their NRR from other teams except USA, then they’ll be able to secure the second place in the league’s stage as they are still in the second place with a slightly bigger net run-rate from Italy and others, then they will qualify to final and DIV 3, Inshallah.
I’d be deeply disappointed if they do not make it to the WCL DIV 3.
Anyway, I wish them a very good luck for the remaining matches, hopefully they can win all of them.
Ok,boys no need to worry ,we just lost our frustration and anxiety towards our team, now the time has come to examine ur temperament and skill,which will be ur real test ,there is a sayin is English, it says optimist always sees the opportunity in every difficulty,but pessimist allways sees the difficulty in every opportunity,now u must prove ur inclusion,sort ur mistake out,give ur time for proper game plan and dont gorget “the best defense is attack”.Everyone has their bad day,so forget that day as a nightmare ,just give ur 80% of ur potential,its all enough to lift the trophy.
If Tanzania made 71 runs then Nepal has definitely won the match..poor bating & also poor strategy .. god …if the don’t chase the low score then how could the win if the target is over 200……….common guys…

@Kunwar no need to mourn at gone ,if they got the total of 70, they would play more defensive cricket and i think they might lose their game by buildin pressure on themselves,so have patience and faith,we need to play dominant cricket,attackin cricket and positive cricket as well, we r weak in battin if u creat pressue on urself just blockin our ball,not playin for singles not keepin the score board ticking ,u r surely inviting ur defeat, Again , we want reform in our cricket as well, we should get Australlian coach for positive cricket .

Thank you for your advise. Cricket Nepal did tried something like that with the Fan Club but it didn’t yield results in content. So it’s now providing space for all cricket fans to talk about it through comments. But Cricket Nepal is open for publication of any article about cricket from all the fans.
