Nepal´s experiments with new opening pair ended in a nine-run defeat against Tanzania in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 at Centro Sportivo Ca´Nova, Medicina, Italy on Tuesday.
After a long gap, Mehboob Alam was asked to open with Anil Mandal and the pair were out without scoring as Nepal were bundled out for 108 in 44.1 overs chasing 117 for victory.
For Nepal, vice-captain Gyanendra Malla topscored with 41, which five of the players did not open their account including Sharad Vesawkar, Binod Das and Amrit Bhattarai. Shakti Gauchan scored two.

Paras Khadka (24) and Mahesh Chhetri (16) scored a few runs but it was not enough as Tanzania rode on splendid bowling performances of Kiseto (3/19), Rehmtullah (3/25) and Nassoro (2/18).
Earlier, Nepal elected to bowl first and restricted Tanzania for 117 in 47.3 overs with spinner Rahul Biswokarma being the pick of the bowler with 5/18.
Biswokarma, who was introduced late in the innings, missed a hattrick chance but will be on for another chance when he plays next match as he took last two Tanzanian wickets in successive balls.

As I said in my last comment that our boys need to spruce up the batting dynamics to prove Nepal’s presence in the tournament, once again, lackadaisical batting display proved disaster for the home side. No doubt, we possess the most lethal bowling attack; the batting woes have cropped up again in this match. Whatever good work done by bowlers Rahul Bishwokarma 5/18 and Basant Regmi 2/23, the batsmen could not complement to their superb showing and rendered it to an unproductive endeavour. In any format of cricket, when your 5 batsmen are dismissed for ducks, it alarmingly sounds disaster for the team’s cause. Barring captain Paras 24, vice-captain Gyanendra 41 and Mahesh 16, it was a spineless batting display. The target set by Tanzania 117 was not a daunting task. The batsmen should have put their heads down and batted sensibly realising the importance & outcome of this match. Now with this loss, Nepal has unnecessarily put them in a pressure situation wherein they not only have to win remaining 2 games, but also hope the opponents with whom Nepal has lost do not win matches comprehensively and in addition pray to Lord Indra that rain does not play spoilsport in which Nepal participates. At this stage of the tournament, Nepal can neither afford losing matches nor no-result matches (washouts). In the next upcoming games, Nepal will have to register a comprehensive win against Argentina today and improve its run-rate, and against USA, assessing their dazzling performances so far, I reckon Nepal will really have to play a tough game against them. Though Nepal has beaten USA in their last encounter that was on a natural turf and at home ground, it won’t be an easy proposition playing against them at neutral venue and that too on an astro-turf in which USA’s batsmen are adept at. By saying this, I am neither trying to demoralise nor belittle our boys’ capability. Here, I am just evaluating the USA’s strength and ground realities so that our team plays with positive approach keeping in mind the opponent’s various aspects. In a battle, when one is up against his opponent again whom he had vanguished earlier; one has to be wary and be better prepared mentally and physically. This is because the vanguished opponent nursing the wounds of defeat will come back with renewed energy and power to avenge the defeat. And seeing USA’s performances in this tournament, it seems, they are here with a mission to prove it to their opponents.
Still, our team can do it and our boys have in them to display the resilience, fighting spirits and killer instinct to make their presence felt. We, cricket aficionados back at home repose full faith on the lanky skipper Paras Khadka will once again take up the challenges by the scruff of its neck and lead from the front the way he did in WCL-DIVISION 5. The other batsmen Sarad Vesawkar, Shakti Gauchan and Mehboob Alam will have to gird up their loins and show display their batting skills. The true quality and character of a player is judged how he springs back from the rickety situation and displays his true talent, determination and a strong fight spirit to win against all odds.
I felt quite bad about the way u guys have insulted our coach. His contract has been renewed only for some months, maybe only upto this tournament. He is leaving very soon. He is a very good coach but yes same team can’t learn anything new from him. So, we now need a good coach as his substitute. There’s no point in making assistant coach or any other nepalese the head coach. CAN must start the search and find a suitable person. And, Roy Dias should be heartily thanked for his contribution by giving a good farewell (maybe top honour from government), he shouldn’t be sacked. So, we should not hate and insult him but heartily thank him for whatever he’s done for us.
