Kalaiya Cricket Club held 24th Anniversary function

Kalaiya Cricket Club (KCC) of Bara district held 24th Anniversary Function and second Annaul General Meeting recently in Muskan Plaza Hotel which was presided over by club chairman Sushil Chaugai.

During the meeting, the members of the club and guest were informed that KCC played altogether 15 matches of 6 tournaments during past year. KCC won nine of them and lost 6. During the year, it won Leo Cup in Narayangadh and reached the finals of Madan-Ashrit Indo-Nepal Cup in Bhairahawa and Triagular Tournament organised by the club.

During the function, Binod Das, Sanjam Regmi and Kaniska Chaugai were felicitated for the success in cricket. All of them were the members of U-19 team that won the Youth Asia Cup 2000 and reached the plate final of Youth World Cup in New Zealand. Das and Regmi were also part of the team that reached the final of Fourth ACC Trophy in Singapore thus qualifying for the Asia Cup.

Chairman Chaugai thanked all the institutions and individuals contributing for the club along with Bara District Development Committee and regretted that Kalaiya Municipality failed to support the club.

Club Secretary Tasirudeen Mansoor informed that the club has played major role in upliftment of cricket in the country and till the date 10 players of the club has represented the country. Vice President Sailesh Shrestha asked for everyone to help and support the club to complete an international standard ground and to run its programmes.

Pawan Agrawal, club treasurer, presented the income and expense statement. Last year, the club earned Rs. 61,420 while spent Rs 94,347. The deficit of Rs. 32,887 will be adjusted next year.

The club with 46 life members and 20 general member, will celebrate its silver jubilee next year and has been invited to play in Bangladesh by a club there.
